Plant Inspection
Three levels are described in the document, but, as this is a relatively new scheme, only Levels 1 and 2 are available at present. A Level 1 Plant Inspector is able to perform straightforward, unsupervised inspections of plant. A Level 2 Plant Inspector has a wider scope of knowledge and inspection competence than a Level 1.

Level 2 Logbook
The Level 2 logbook is to be completed by all CSWIP Plant Inspector candidates applying for entry to the Level 2
course and examination. CSWIP assessors will use the logbook as a basis for assessment of a plant inspector's
individual experience and competence. Candidates may also use it as a pre-Level 2 checklist of their own competence
and experience.
Further Instructions
Step 1 : Completing the Logbook
Download the logbook from
here. Save the document somewhere on your PC.
Take the following Notes into consideration when completing the form:
- Complete the appropriate areas in the form by selecting and then typing in the relevant grey box.
- It is important that the logbook provides a fair view of your experience/competence in the areas identified.
- Remember this is your personal logbook; do not transfer it to anyone else, as this will render it invalid.
- It is not expected that candidates will be able to complete all of the categories, owing to different career paths and backgrounds. CSWIP will assess each logbook individually and make a decision as to whether the competence/experience shown is sufficient for entry to the CSWIP Plant Inspector Level 2 core course.
- If you have been awarded a CSWIP Plant Inspector Level 1 pass certificate, indicate this on page 2, by ticking the YES box.
- If you are relying upon supporting documentation (reports, other training course results, etc.) include appropriate references in the competence log, but do not attach the supporting documentation when submitting the logbook for assessment. CSWIP will request the it, if required.
- Those rows denoted by (*UK only) should only be completed by UK candidates.
- For each of the logbook categories that you claim competence/experience, you must include verification from an engineer/manager who can confirm your competence/experience in that specific category.
- Enter the engineer/manager's name and a reference number (e.g. 1, 2, 3) in the right hand column, then complete the table on page 2, giving the identification of each person referenced. You may use up to 8 different people as referees, depending on the scope of the experience claimed.
