Five-year renewal

Certificate holders must complete a renewal application request online

Once received by TWI Certification Ltd (TWI Cert), you will be contacted and sent the relevant renewal documentation and further guidance on the renewal process.
Certificate holders are required to submit with their renewal form:

A verified work experience record covering at least 4 out of the 5 years that your certificate is valid

A record of your continuing professional development (CPD), of at least 35 hours per year (can be recorded in your CSWIP/BGAS-CSWIP Log Book)
- N.B. your employment log sheets must be verified every 12 months by your employer

A record of professional experience form (can be recorded in your CSWIP/BGAS-CSWIP Log Book)

One recent passport size photograph

A copy of your original CSWIP certificate

A recent eyesight test certificate to the standards detailed in the relevant scheme document, taken within the last year (can be recorded in your CSWIP/ BGAS-CSWIP Log Book)
Renewals can be undertaken via Examination or Structured Credit for all Levels
- N.B., Only one application for Structured Credit can be received, failure to submit all documents and meet requirements with the initial submission will mean you must sit the examination – no additional submissions for the Structured Credit will be accepted or reviewed.

Should there be any errors, omissions, or missing documentation within the initial application, you will be contacted by email. Therefore, please ensure that a valid and correct contact email address is provided on the application form.
Incomplete applications will incur an additional administrative fee, and late submissions of the application forms are subject to a late payment fee.
Once you have successfully completed your examination or structured credit application a certificate will be issued.
Certificates can take several weeks to be issued.
Ten-year recertification
All level 1 or level 2 certificate holders are required to sit an examination at the 10-year point. Level 3 certificate holders may undertake their recertification via Examination or Structured Credit.

Certificate holders are required to submit the same documentary evidence as listed above under the 5-year renewal requirements

N.B., the same rules regarding the submission/omission of documentation, as listed in the 5-year Renewal above, apply at the 10-year Recertification point.
Once the initial application form is received, the submission is assessed by TWI Cert to assess the candidaes eligibility to proceed.
- N.B., Level 3 Candidates must also confirm their route to recertification – Examination or Structured Credit.
Recertification via Examination (all candidates)
The certificate holder is notified by email that they can sit their recertification exam(s) by an approved date and should contact TWI Examinations to arrange their examination(s).
Upon a successful Examination a certificate will be issued.
Please note: Certificates can take several weeks to be issued.
Recertification via Structured Credit (Level 3 only)
The process and rules will be the same as per those at the 5 year Renewal stage (above)
