CSWIP: Playing Its Part

Fri, 29 May, 2020

CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP certifications are recognised the world over as a benchmark to distinguish the competences of personnel. Having been relied upon by industry for over 50 years as a dependable source of assurance for role-specific knowledge and skills, CSWIP has continued to meet these demands and now provides certification to over 40,000 certificate holders worldwide.

It is because of this reputation within industry that CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP certification schemes were the obvious choice for use in the South East Asia Skills Enhancement Programme (SEASEP), a collaboration between TWI and the Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF). TWI is one of the world’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, with expertise in materials joining and engineering processes, while LRF is a leading UK-based charity that supports activities relating to the safety of life and property across the globe.

SEASEP is an international vocational training initiative designed to upskill people in South and East Asian countries, with a specific focus on improving safety standards in work environments. The ultimate aim of the programme is to tackle in-country skill shortages and reduce occupational fatalities by bringing engineering-related skills and education to disadvantaged and under-represented groups.

Participants in the programme will have the option to gain certification in a variety of CSWIP or BGAS-CSWIP certification schemes such as:

BGAS-CSWIP Blast Cleaning/Preparation Operative Level 5A

BGAS-CSWIP Protective Painter/Sprayer Operative Level 5B

CSWIP Visual Welding Inspector

CSWIP Radiographic Interpreter

CSWIP Magnetic Particle Inspector

CSWIP Liquid Penetrant Inspector

TWI CL is delighted that its CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP certification schemes could play a role in such an important programme and looks forward to working with TWI and LRF on other initiatives.
