The recertification process outlined here applies to the certificate type listed in the box below. All certifications are valid for 4 years subject to successful completion of the requirements listed below each year.
Year one renewal
TWI Certification Ltd will send a renewal reminder to the sponsoring company seeking confirmation of the certificate holder's:
- Current employment
- Engagement, with reasonable continuity, in activities covered by the certificate for the previous 12 months
- No interruption in their employment for longer than 6 months
Once the above is received by TWI Certification Ltd, a new certificate will be issued for the following year.
Year two prolongation
TWI Certification Ltd will send a renewal reminder to the sponsoring company requesting the following:
- Completion of the application form (sent with the reminder)
- Evidence of work quality, e.g. copies of independent third party testing or, a signed letter from a customer advising that the work carried out by the certificate holder in the 12 months prior to the two-year certificate expiry date in the category/categories covered by the certificate, was of acceptable quality
Once received, the submission is assessed by TWI Certification Ltd against the prolongation requirements. If successful, a new certificate for the following year will be issued.
Year three renewal
The same process as the year one renewal applies. TWI Certification Ltd will send a renewal reminder to the sponsoring company seeking confirmation of the certificate holder's:
- Current employment
- Engagement, with reasonable continuity, In welding activities for the previous 12 months
- No interruption in their employment for longer than 6 months
Once the above is received by TWI Certification Ltd, a new certificate will be issued for the following year.
Year four recertification
All certificate holders are required to sit an examination at the 4-year point.
- TWI Certification Ltd will send a renewal reminder to the sponsoring company
- Employers must contact TWI Examinations to arrange the examination(s)
Upon successful completion of the exam(s), a notification will be sent to TWI Certification Ltd, who, upon receipt of this notification, will issue a certificate.
Please note certificates can take several weeks to be issued from receipt of the initial notification by the examination body.
