CSWIP Focus: Standing on the Shoulders of Volunteers

Mon, 01 June, 2020

CSWIP certifications are provided through TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Welding Institute that was established in 1993. However, did you know that TWI CL (and thus the CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP certification schemes) are managed by a number of stakeholder Management Committees and, is ultimately, governed by a Certification Management Board (CMB), all of which consist of volunteers from industry?

Currently TWI CL has over 50 volunteers who sit on our stakeholder committees and it is because of them that we are able to continue providing certification schemes that are renowned worldwide for their reliability, integrity and credibility.

These volunteers represent a variety of sectors and companies, such as Rolls-Royce, National Grid Gas plc, Shell, Subsea7 and even the HSE, to name but a few!

Our stakeholder governance provides TWI CL with a unique insight into the latest technological developments and advancements, thus enabling us to ensure our certification schemes remain current and continue our 50-year tradition of meeting the requirements of industry.

Our volunteers, with approval from their companies, take time from their busy schedules, to attend meetings, review and update scheme documents, audit CSWIP approved courses, act as ambassadors for the CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP brand, and so much more.

As it is National Volunteer’s Week, we thought that this would be a prime opportunity to highlight all the hard work that they do to ensure that we continue to maintain our integrity as well as remaining a reliable and credible source of assurance for role-specific knowledge and skills.

The knowledge and experience provided by our volunteers is imperative to the success of TWI CL and the CSWIP/BGAS-CSWIP schemes. These contributions do not go unnoticed or unappreciated and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work and dedication – we would not be where we are or what we are without you.
